Ex Real Betis and Malaga manager Antonio Tapia has recently been in the UK and has expressed his interest on potentially managing in the UK, Tapia was a top target for a number of English clubs in recent years. Before Alan Pardew took aver at Newcastle united Tapia was approached by the club.
Tapia took Costa del Sol outfit Malaga from promotion to the Primera Division to the brink of Champions League qualification and has become something of a coaching sensation in Spain.
Back then Tapia qouted
“I rejected an offer during the (January) transfer window, although I am a lover of English football. I am a professional and my commitment was to Malaga. I don’t regret the decision,”
West London outfit Queens Park Rangers where are also said to be interested in past years.
We believe at Evo football that Tapia can be a fantastic asset to any club in England and with his knowledge of Spanish football and technical development he could be an ideal target for any English clubs looking to embed a technical continental philosophy structure from senior level – academy/youth level, this could be something in much need of at a number of clubs for our home based youngsters future technical development, Tapia has strong passion of working with young players and a great reputation in Spain.
With a number of Spanish clubs showing currently showing interest in Tapia for coaching roles his next Job maybe in Spain and due to the small number of jobs available in the UK, it maybe a case of waiting an and assessing any vacancies that do become available, premier league is not necessarily a priority and he has expressed that lower league clubs in England could be an option depending on the club and club ambitions.
