Aug 2011 to May 2012 Head Coach, UJPEST Football Club, Budapest, Hungary
Long established football club that in August 2011 was struggling having scored no points or a single goal in the first five games of the season. It was also suffering financial difficulties.
Initially employed by Mr Leo Beenhakker (Sport Director at the time) as Head Coach. In October 2011, the club was taken over by a new owner from Belgium. I was retained as Head Coach and given charge of the entire sport department. During my time with Ujpest I restructured the whole sport department, reached my targets of keeping the team in the top division, and reached the semi-final of the national cup. Impressed by Ujpest’s performance, the Hungarian National Team asked me to construct a training plan for the first team, U21s, U20s and U19s.
Dec 2007 to Dec 2010 Assistant Manager, DVSC-TEVA Football Club, Hungary
DVSC is one of the leading clubs in the Hungarian Premiership and the first Hungarian team to reach the final 32 of the Champions League.
My primary role was Assistant Manager and Conditioning Coach for the first team. I was also responsible for delivering the entire training programme for the reserve team, U18s and U19s. During my time with the club I developed a sophisticated new full periodisation plan which includes: pre season, competitive season, weekly training planning, rest and recovery, nutrition, fitness testing, and injury prevention. This plan has since been commended by the world renowned conditioning coach Raymond Verheijen.
